Contrary to rumors, John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao are still very much together.

This is what Cruz, one of the lead stars in ABS-CBN primetime show Imortal, told The Buzz as he reacted to rumors that he and Magdayao have already called it quits.

"Lagi naman kaming binabato ng kung ano-anong issue. Siguro ganoon talaga kapag nakikita na maganda 'yung nadudulot sa isa't isa, masaya kayo at nananahimik kami," he said.

Cruz continued, "Huwag kayong mag-isip or mag-alala, sobrang okay kami."

Rumors of Cruz and Magdayao's so-called falling-out surfaced following reports that the former continues to contact his ex-girlfriend, Ruffa Gutierrez, via mobile phone.

Late last month, a visibly irritated Gutierrez lashed out at Cruz for his "inconsistencies" and "indecisions." (Read story here)

Shaina's birthday

Magdayao was not able to celebrate her birthday with Cruz last November 6.

The actor, however, said he made it a point to contact his girlfriend via phone and give her special gifts.

"Sa mismong araw ng birthday niya, tinawagan ko lang siya. I (also) bought a few things. I shop for my girlfriend kasi it brings me closer to her," Cruz shared.

Currently, Cruz and Magdayao are both busy with their respective projects in ABS-CBN -- the former has Imortal while the latter stars in Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Alyna, an afternoon television series.

Despite their busy schedules, Cruz said he and Magdayao still manage to spend some quality time with each other.

"We make it a point na magkaroon kami ng quality time. To tell you honestly, we've never been happier. Super blessed kami. Mahirap makahanap ng ganoon na loaded ang schedule," the actor said.

On directors

Cruz, meanwhile, stressed that he is very much open to working on different projects with other directors and artists.

He made the statement as he reacted to rumors that he only wants to have Cathy Garcia-Molina as his movie director.

The box office king admitted, however, that he feels comfortable working with Garcia-Molina, who directed his films Close To You, One More Chance, A Very Special Love, You Changed My Life and Miss You Like Crazy.

"Malaki ang papel ni Direk Cathy sa naging film career ko. Malaking bagay 'pag siya ang ka-trabaho ko kasi mas naiingatan 'yung mas gusto mong i-offer," Cruz said.

He added, "Sobrang magtinginan lang kami alam na namin 'yung gusto naming sabihin."
